Westlake Village Inn and Spa sits on seventeen acres of vineyard, lake and Mediterranean-style gardens, inland from Malibu and about forty minutes from downtown LA. Cobblestone paths run between low stone buildings with red-clay tile roofs. Bougainvillea climbs the archways, roses grow over the arbors, and the Santa Monica Mountains hold the horizon in every direction.
A few years ago, my husband and I spent a day in Westlake Village on the way home to San Diego from Malibu. I was struck by the beauty of the area and its unhurried pace. I did not know what sat behind the gate on Agoura Road. Last week, watching the season finale of Let's Marry Harry, I realized I had walked right past the venue where the wedding episode had been filmed.

The Backstory
The Inn first opened in 1968 as the Westlake Motor Lodge. Seventy-five rooms for people passing through on the drive between Los Angeles and the Central Coast along the historic El Camino Real. It was founded by John L. Notter, a Swiss-born financier who arrived in the United States as a young boy and has since made massive contributions to the community in his long, fruitful career. He became known as the “father of Westlake” due to his leadership in planning the Westlake Village community. Now over 90 years old, Notter is also known for his generosity as a philanthropist and has served on the non-profit boards for Ludwig Cancer Research and the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, among others. Notter did not just build a resort in a town. He helped build the town, and spent the next several decades filling in one corner of it.
The Westlake Village Inn and Spa has grown in pieces over the years. The Stonehaus arrived in 2012, built inside the vineyard at the far end of the grounds. Spa Relais opened in 2020, and Louie's took over the former Bogie's space in 2024. The Inn now holds 156 rooms and suites across nine buildings.

The Grounds
Vines run right up to the walking paths, and the wine made from them turns up on the tasting list and, later, on the spa menu.
The Stonehaus within the vineyard is a coffee house by morning and European-style enoteca by afternoon. With a pizza oven, live music, and open-air seating under string lights, it is the best way to use a Southern California evening.
Mediterraneo is the Inn's signature bistro restaurant with a patio on the lake. The menu leans locally sourced. There are steaks and grilled octopus yet several vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options run through the list.
Louie's is the newest and most sophisticated setting of the three, an outdoor lounge with panoramic views over the lake and the adjacent golf course, styled after alfresco evenings in the south of France. Chef Vahan Tokamadjian's menu is seafood-forward. There is a sunset happy hour, and sometimes there is dancing.
Two pools sit at opposite ends of the property and serve opposite purposes. Azul is the family pool, set among palm trees and vine-covered pergolas, with a full bar, hot tub and private cabanas. The Spa Relais pool is adults only, reserved for spa guests, and has both a cold plunge and a hot tub.

Spa Relais
The spa takes its name and its methods from France. The stated philosophy is “joie de vivre,” and the treatments draw on herbs, flowers, oils and minerals from the vine, sea and air.
Viniferine, an ingredient derived from the grapevine, anchors the VinoPerfect Radiance facial. Pause and Align is a treatment combining tuning forks, aromatherapy with clary sage, peppermint, and lavender, magnesium body butter and a warm compress, finished with a mist of organic rosewater. The spa recommends it specifically for menopausal symptoms. There are also two prenatal-focused treatments and a Wellness Facial delivered by oncology-trained estheticians.
Meanwhile, the Vichy room sends water through six showerheads at once with chromotherapy layered over it. Scrubs are an optional add-on.
For anyone building a stay around the spa, the Spa Room King is the room to ask for. A walk-in shower that doubles as a steam room, and it’s situated adjacent to Spa Relais.

The Community
Some of the best days here have nothing to do with spending the night.
Wine Wellness Women is an event built around an educational female speaker and a glass of vino. On Saturday mornings, a cycling group has long used the Stonehaus as its departure point before heading toward the canyon roads. More recently, a full moon ceremony joined the rotation. Held outdoors and capped at a small circle, the moon ceremony includes a sound bath and journaling. Happy Hour with the Winemaker comes around monthly and the Westlake Concert Series fills out the summer.
None of these offerings require a room key. A resort that programs only for its overnight guests is just a resort. A place where the same locals turn up every month for a women's circle or a morning ride is a communal gathering place.

Weddings and a Netflix Appearance
The Westlake Village Inn has been a coveted wedding venue for decades. Three outdoor ceremony sites anchor it: the Lakeside Arbor, the Tuscan Garden and the Waterfall.
In August 2026, the property turned up on Netflix.
The finale of Let's Marry Harry aired on August 12, and Westlake Village Inn served as the backdrop for the wedding episode that closed the season. Harry Jowsey married Amber Mozo with Amanda Kloots officiating. Whether the marriage remains intact is not ours to predict, and the couple have not settled that question publicly. The reunion will air August 26, 2026 where the duo is expected to officially share their relationship status.
Sometimes the most useful thing a wedding at a vineyard in the Conejo Valley can do is remind us to soften a little. You could see it in Harry and Amber during the ceremony, in how easy and silly they were with each other. You could feel it in the families, one from Hawaii and one from New Zealand, meeting in a Southern California garden to watch two lives join.
Whether the couple remains together or not, their silliness and sense of ease is something I would like to invite more of into my own life. A drive up from San Diego to Westlake Village may be exactly how I need to end this busy summer. Unhurried.
